READING, Pa. – An 11
th inning error plated
Dallas Griess to help Penn College knock off Penn State Berks, 3-2, in a United East baseball game Friday. The Wildcats improved to 1-3 United East, 9-11 overall, while the Nittany Lions fell to 2-7-1, 3-18-1.
How it happened:
Jaiden Augustine gave Penn College a 1-0 lead with a RBI single in the third inning before Berks tied the game in the bottom of the frame, 1-1.
Shawn Townsend's one run double to left in the seventh put PCT back on top, 2-1, but the Lions deadlocked the game in the bottom of the ninth. Augustine's double in the 11
th led to the error that brought in the winning run.
Inside the box: Griess led Penn College's offense with three hits, while Augustine and
John Croasdale both finished with two hits.
Dennis Prestash fired the final two innings and improved to 2-1 after allowing no runs, on one hit with a walk, and a strikeout.
Up next: Penn College completes the final two games of the series with Berks, 12 p.m., Saturday.
