SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Penn College's men's and women's tennis teams fell in United East home matches against St. Mary's (Md.) College on Saturday, the men by 2-7 and the women 0-9. The Penn College men are 0-2 UE and 0-6 overall and its women are 0-2 UE and 2-6 overall. St. Mary's men's team is 3-0 UE and 4-5 overall and its women are 2-0 UE and 5-4 overall.
How it happened: St. Mary's men won four singles and three doubles matches while its women captured all six singles and three doubles matches.
Inside the box: Winning for the Penn College men were Kyle Shuler at No. 1 singles, 3-6, 6-4, 10-6 tiebreaker, and Matt Williams at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 6-3. Also in competitive matches for the Wildcat men were Logan Ogden at No. 4 singles and Jaydon Manbeck at No. 6 singles, who lost in three-set tie-breakers.
Georgia Macensky had the most competitive match for the Penn College women at No. 3 singles in a 4-6, 0-6 loss.
