PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. – Penn College opened United East women's soccer action with a 7-0 victory at Valley Forge on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats began the conference slate 1-0, and won their fifth-straight match to hold an unbeaten 7-0-3 record. UVF started 0-1 and is 2-5-0 overall.
How it happened: Rylee Oliphant led the Wildcats to victory with a hat-trick with a goal in the first half and two more in the second. The Wildcats held a 3-0 lead at the break after
Megan Kurian and
Piper Minier both scored unassisted in the eighth and 22nd minutes, respectively. In the 27th minute, Kurian fed Oliphant for the 3-0 advantage.
In the second half, Kurian and Oliphant scored back-to-back in the 65th minute and Oliphant notched her third goal in the 72nd minute.
Ginny Yost closed out the contest with her first goal of the season in the 75h minute.
Inside the box: Penn College fired off 23 shots on goal and lined up for 10 corners while the defense did not surrender a Patriots shot as Lichtinger had a quiet day between the pipes.
