UTICA, N.Y. – A pair of first half goals led Penn College to a 2-1 win over Utica in a nonconference women's soccer match Wednesday. The Wildcats improved to 1-0-1, while the Pioneers fell to 1-1.

Megan Kurian deposited
Cassie Johnson's through-ball in the second minute to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead. Johnson made it 2-0 after she finished off a
Holly Herbert pass in the 13
th minute. Utica got on the board in the 54
th minute to make it 2-1.
Inside the box: Utica outshot Penn College, 20-15, and held a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
Morgan Solano turned away seven shots in goal to earn the win.
Up next: Penn College has its home opener Saturday, 4 p.m., against Elmira College.
