BRADFORD, Pa. — Penn College's wrestling team went 3-0 on Saturday in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Duals hosted by Pitt-Bradford. The Wildcats topped Alfred State 30-17, beat Pitt-Bradford 37-15 and downed Penn State Behrend 29-13 to improve to 4-0 in all duals.
Individually for Penn College, Carter Davis (165), Nicholas Woodruff (197) and Nicholai Brotzman (285) all finished the day with 3-0 records.
How it happened vs. Alfred State: Penn College got three falls and two technical falls in its first-match victory. Winning by falls were Travis Green at 174, TJ Martin at 149 and Brotzman, while scoring technical falls were Woodruff and Davis. Brotzman decked his opponent in 1:10, although an unsportsmanlike (outside) call against him cost the Wildcats one team point. Also, Justin Adams added a win by decision at 125.
How it happened vs. Pitt-Bradford: Penn College used three falls, two technical falls, one win by forfeit and one decision for its win. Scoring falls were Brotzman, Woodruff (in 58 seconds) and Isaac McGregor at 141, while Davis and Blake Dergham (133) posted technical falls, Aiden Osborne won by forfeit at 184 and Martin won by decision.
How it happened vs. Penn State Behrend: The Wildcats had two falls, two technical falls, a major decision and a decision. Brotzman and Adams earned the falls, while Woodruff and Dergham had the technical falls, Green won with a major decision and Davis earned a decision.
The field: Penn State Behrend ended the day 2-1 and improved to 8-5 overall, Pitt-Bradford was 1-1 and now is 5-9, Alfred State was 1-2 and now is 4-5 and Penn State Altoona was 0-3 and dropped to 0-6.
