WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Penn College men's basketball fell, 84-78 to visiting Notre Dame in United East basketball on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats dropped to 4-4 UE, 6-11 overall. The Gators improved to 5-3 UE, 8-9 overall.
How it happened: Penn College fought back from a 39-29 halftime deficit and a Gators 18-point lead, 55-37, with 15 minutes left to get within two possessions late. A
Donnie Bass Briscoe layup with 1:21 left to play made it a five-point game, 80-75, but the Wildcats fell short of a comeback with time running out.
The Gators jumped out to a 5-1 lead before a 10-6 run tied the game at 11. Back-to-back Wildcat layups from
Joe Savage and
Ronn Flood, Jr., provided a 17-16 lead with 8:56 to play in the first half but a 3-pointer in the next possession gave the Gators back a lead for good.
Inside the box: Livingston Cross finished with a team-high 17 points, seven rebounds and added three assists and a block.
Julien Leveille scored 16 points while Barrett and Bass Briscoe both added 12 points.
Four Gators scored 13-or-more points behind Chandler Johnson who led all scorers with 21 points.
