ALLENTOWN, Pa. -- Penn College went the distance to claim a 3-2 victory at Cedar Crest in a United East Conference women's volleyball match Wednesday evening. The Wildcats improved to 2-5 in league matches, 5-19 overall while the Falcons dropped to 3-5 UE, 4-21 overall.
How it happened: Penn College hit the magic number 25 in sets one and three before claiming the decisive 15-7 victory in set five. The Wildcats and Falcons went back-and-fourth in the first set before back-to-back kills by
Lilly Stockum and
Ellen Banfill handed the first set to the Wildcats, 25-23.Â
Cedar Crest responded with a 25-21 set two victory before another tightly-contested third set tilted back to the Wildcats with four-straight points to close out the set.
Tied at 2-2 after the Falcons took set four, 35-19, Penn College scored 10 of the final 11 points to earn the victory.
Inside the box: Haylie Thomsen was all over the floor for the Wildcats with 11 kills and a team-high 18 digs.
Lilly Stockum scored 20 kills and led the team with four aces. Banfill dished out 34 assists and
Sara Seyfert got up for three blocks in the victory.Â
