Wildcats Fall at Penn State Hazleton

HAZLETON, Pa. -- Penn College fell to Penn State Hazleton, 95-77, in a nonconference men's basketball contest Monday afternoon. The Wildcats fell to 0-2 on the season while Hazleton improved to 3-1.

How it happened: Hazleton jumped out to a 17-7 lead early with five-straight 3s to open the game and a layup with 15:19 on the clock pushed the Lions out to a 10-point lead. Jay Henry, Landon Reeder and Neyshawn Mabry were the leading scorers for the Wildcats in the first half with six points each as Hazleton held a 50-32 lead at the half.

Kendall Bratten was responsible for the first five points of the second half, Owen Newcomer drained a three and Henry made a layup to get the Wildcat within six, 50-44, but an 11-point run by Hazleton with 11:43 on the clock doomed the Wildcats' comeback efforts.

Inside the box: Kris Hayes led the offense with 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting and three 3s. Henry added 16 points, dished out seven assists and had three steals.

Up next: Penn College returns to Bardo Gym on Wednesday to take on Muhlenburg at 6 p.m.
