MIDDLETOWN, Pa. -- Penn State Harrisburg used a 54-point second half against Penn College to pull away in a 90-62 final in United East men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats dropped to 6-6 UE, 8-13 overall while the Nittany Lions improved to 10-2 UE, 14-7.
How it happened: Penn College set the fast-paced tone early with 3-point shots by
DJ Smith III and
Livingston Cross on the Wildcats' first two possessions to take an early 6-2 lead. After The Lions pulled ahead,
Gavin Barrett pulled up for a pair of threes and Cross drained his second long-range shot of the afternoon to hand the Wildcats' their largest lead of the day, 19-12 with 13 minutes to go in the half.Â
Harrisburg used a 14-6 run over the next seven minutes to regain the lead and take a 31-36 lead at the half.Â
The Nittany Lions continued its offensive production in the first three minutes of the second half to gain a double-digit lead that was too much for the Wildcats to track down for the remainder of the game.Â
Inside the box: Cross continued to lead of Wildcats offensive production with 21 points on 6-12 shooting, three 3s and 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Smith III joined Cross in double-digit scoring as he finished with 11 points.
Isaiah Eggleston posted a 32-point, 11-rebound double-double. The Lions won the rebounding battle, 56-33Â and shot 47.7% in the second half.Â
