Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Wildcats' Comeback Stalled by Rosemont

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Penn College men's basketball's comeback effort was stalled by visiting Rosemont in a 73-71 final score on Tuesday evening inside Bardo Gym. The Wildcats dropped to 6-9 in United East contests, 8-16 overall. The Ravens moved to 3-12 UE, 4-19 overall.

How it happened: Down 18 (60-42) with 11 minutes to play, the Wildcats began chipping away at the Rosemont lead with a pair of Gavin Barrett free throws and the defense forced a turnover before Landon Reeder finished on the other end to spark the offense. Barrett (4) and Reeder (6) scored the next 10 points for the Wildcats to get within ten (62-52) but another Rosemont run extended the lead to 70-55 with five minutes remaining.

Penn College closed the gap with a 16-2 run courtesy of Livingston Cross (5), Donnie Bass Briscoe (5) and two points each from Flood, Jr., Barrett while a Woolridge layup with six seconds remaining pulled the Wildcats within one, 72-71. A missed Rosemont free throw opened the door for the Wildcats with four seconds remaining, but a turnover on the Wildcats final possession doomed the comeback.

The Wildcats and Ravens played an even first half with the visitors holding a 36-34 lead at the break.

Inside the box: Cross posted his 20th double-double of the season, scoring 23 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Barrett added 13 points, nine boards and six assists while Flood, Jr., scored nine. Woolridge finished with eight points, seven rebounds and three assists and Christian Chandler helped out in the scoring with one point and two assists in the five seniors' final home game of their careers.

Up next: Penn College wraps up its regular season on Saturday, 1 p.m., at Notre Dame (Md.).
