MONTCLAIR, N.J. — Penn College fell, 15-9 in a nonconference men's lacrosse match at Montclair State University on Saturday. The Wildcats are now 0-2 and Montclair State is 1-0. The six-goal differential was the closest in three-lifetime matches between the two teams, all won by Montclair.
How it happened: Penn College opened a 3-0 lead in the first period with Elliot Dotson scoring twice, before Montclair tallied the next six in a row. The Wildcats evened the score at 6-6, with Dotson scoring once and assisting two others. After another tie at 7-all, Montclair went ahead 8-7 at halftime.
Montclair padded its lead in the second half with three goals in the third period and four in the fourth. Dotson picked up another assist in the third frame and scored unassisted to close out the scoring in the fourth.
Inside the box: Dotson finished with seven points with his four-goal, three-assist day. For Montclair State, Ethan Mounier and Max Morosoff both scored four goals. Montclair led in shots on goal 34-25 and ground balls 52-37. Levi Borkowski had nine ground balls and was 12 of 20 in faceoffs for the Wildcats. Ryan Twist made 19 saves in goal for Penn College.
