ABERDEEN, Md. – Penn College baseball dropped its opening day doubleheader against Gettysburg on Sunday afternoon, the Bullets took game one, 11-3, followed by an 11-1 score in game two. The Wildcats begin the 2025 season with a 0-2 record while the Bullets are 2-0.
In game one,
Gettysburg struck first for a 2-0 lead with one run in the bottom of the first and second innings. McGuire Heverly plated the Wildcats' first run of the season in the fourth inning as his sac fly to left was deep enough to bring in
Nathan Gustkey.
Gettysburg scored three runs in the fifth and six in the sixth to break open an 11-1 lead. The Wildcats scratched across a pair of runs in the top of the seventh with a pair of RBI singles by
Dallas Griess and
Shawn Townsend.
Griess, Townsend and
Kevin Cute finished game one with two hits each.
In game two,
The Bullets plated three runs in the first, one in the second, four in the third and three in the fourth. Penn College's lone run came in the third inning when
John Croasdale worked for a two-out walk and later scored on a wild pitch.
Ethan Stahl,
Levi Purnell and
Ty Jenkins recorded a hit.
