LANCASTER, Pa. -- Penn College baseball fell to Lancaster Bible, 22-10 in a nonconference baseball game on Friday afternoon. The Wildcats dropped to 0-3 while the Chargers improved to 4-2.
How it happened: Penn College got on the board first in the top of the first inning when
Shawn Townsend belted a two-out double and scored on the next at-bat when
Levi Purnell singled to left. LBC scored three in the bottom of the inning and two in the second to take a 5-1 lead.
In the third,
Nathan Gustkey hit a two-run home run - his first since April 10, 2023 - to pull the Wildcats within, 5-3 before the Chargers exploded for 14 runs in the bottom of the inning.
A scoreless fourth inning for both teams opened up for three runs in the fifth and sixth inning and one in the top of the seventh for the Wildcats while the Chargers scratched across two in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Inside the box: Gustkey finished 4-for-4 at the plate with two home runs, three runs scored and five RBIs.
Kevin Cute batted 3-for-4 and an RBI while Townsend, Purnell,
Dallas Griess all earned two hits.
