Wildcats Double Up Penn State Schuylkill

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Penn College claimed two five-inning victories against Penn State Schuylkill in nonconference softball action on Wednesday afternoon. The Wildcats won 8-0 in game one and 9-1 in game two to extend their record to 8-7 and dropped the Nittany Lions to 3-8.

In game one,
The Wildcats struck early with two runs in the bottom of the first inning on RBI singles from Mackenzie Weaver and Ryleigh Rinker. Penn College scratched across two more runs in the third inning when Weaver smoked a leadoff single back up the middle and later scored on a ground out from Payton Crawford. Fayth Anderson drove in Lexi Snyder for the second run of the frame.

Penn College scored a run in the fourth and three in the fifth for the early final. Fayth Anderson led the Wildcats at the plate as she went 3-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored. Lorson and Weaver both finished with two hits, one RBI and scored twice in the win. Weaver tossed a two-hit shutout for her sixth win in the circle.

In game two,
After taking a 4-0 lead in the first two innings, the Wildcats' offense exploded with five runs - all-with two outs - to induce the run rule. Herriman started the rally off with a single up the middle. Lorson tripled and Weaver and Lexi Snyder walked to load the bases for Harley Kunes to clear them with a triple of her own.

Schuylkill plated one run in the top of the fifth trying to extend the game, but Mackenzi Tice induced a game-ending ground out to third. Tice racked up five Ks and allowed just two hits in her second win of the season. Weaver (2-for-2) and Kunes both accounted for three RBIs at the plate.
