READING, Pa. — Penn College tennis teams split in United East play at Penn State Berks on Saturday, the women winning 5-2 and the men falling 5-2. Penn College's women now are 2-6 overall and 2-0 in the UE, and its men are 1-6 overall and 0-1 in the UE. The Berks women are 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the UE and its men are 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
How it happened women: Penn College captured four singles and all three doubles matches.
Inside the box women: Singles winners were Ellen Buckley at No. 1, 6-2, 6-3; Lauren Peck at No. 2, 6-0, 6-0; Faith Murray at No. 3, 6-0, 6-1; and Eliza Welshans at No. 4, by forfeit. Doubles winners were Buckley-Peck at No. 1, 6-4; Murray-Kayla Weinzierl at No. 3, 7-5; and Cierra Miller-Welshans at No. 3, by forfeit.
How it happened men: The Wildcats picked up two wins in singles and had one win in doubles.
Inside the box men: Hunter Knosky posted a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles, and Valentino Barillaro won by forfeit at No. 6 singles. Knosky-Barillaro won by forfeit at No. 3 doubles.
