SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Penn College's tennis teams split in United East action against Penn State Brandywine on Tuesday, with the men winning 7-0 and the women losing 3-2. Penn College's men are now 2-6 overall and 1-1 in the conference, while the Brandywine men are 0-8 overall and 0-3 UE. Penn College's women are 2-7 overall and 2-1 in the UE, while the Brandywine women are 1-8 overall and 1-3 UE.
How it happened men: Penn College swept all six singles matches, four of them contested, and all three doubles matches, two contested.
Inside the box men: Singles winners were Alex Norris at No. 1, 6-0, 6-1; John Finnegan at No. 2, 6-1, 6-2; Logan Ogden at No. 3, 6-0, 6-0; and Seth Priestman at No. 4, 6-1, 6-0. Winning by forfeit at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively, were Hunter Knosky and Matt Williams. Doubles winners were Norris-Finnegan at No. 1, 6-1; Knosky-Williams at No. 2, 6-2; and Ogden-Priestman at No. 3, by forfeit.
How it happened women: The Wildcats won two of four singles matches and lost both doubles matches.
Inside the box women: Singles winners were Kayla Weinzierl at No. 2, 6-3, 6-1, and Eliza Welshans at No. 4, 6-2, 6-4.
Up next: The Penn College women host Lock Haven University at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday in a nonconference match. The Penn College men are at Penn State Abington at 1 p.m. on Saturday in UE action.
