Wildcats Hold Off Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Penn College's Owen Kupsey scored the game-winner with just 32 seconds left as the Wildcats held off Westminster, 10-9 in nonconference men's lacrosse action on Wednesday evening. The Wildcats improved to 11-4 while dropping the Titans to 7-7 on the season.

How it happened: Westminster scored back-to-back goals to tie the game at 8-8 with 2:46 remaining in the game before Gage Mcclune pulled the momentum back for the Wildcats with a goal at 1:55. The Titans netted another goal with 1:04 to make way for the final minute in regulation.

Antonio Santora won the ensuing faceoff to give the Wildcats the final possession and a timeout with 46 seconds allowed the Wildcats to draw up the game-winning play for Elliot Dotson to feed Kupsey who fired past the keeper in the top right corner.

The WIidcats held a 3-1 edge after the first quarter with Dotson, Kupsey and Tyler Diffenderder netting the first period goals. After the Titans pulled ahead with three straight goals in the second, Kupsey and McFalls scored just before halftime to lead, 5-4 at the break.

Dotson caused a team-high four turnovers and Antonio Santora won 15-of-18 faceoffs. Ryan Twist compiled 13 saves to earn his ninth win on the season.
