Wildcats Fall to Lions

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Penn College fell, 7-3 in a United East baseball battle against Penn State Brandywine on Monday afternoon. The Wildcats dropped to 9-4 UE, 16-15 overall. The Lions are 2-11 UE, 6-25.

How it happened: The Lions struck first with a two-run home run in the first inning. Nathan Gustkey evened the score in the third inning with a two-run single to score Jaiden Augustine and Brandon Shane. 

Brandywine plated three runs in the fifth inning before Levi Purnell belted his third home run of the series to cut the lead, 6-3 in the sixth. The Lions scratched across another run in the seventh and turned down the Wildcats' comeback chances in the eighth and ninth.

Inside the box: Shawn Townsend led the offense with two hits including a double as the Wildcats were held to six hits and left 10 on base.

Up next: Penn College heads to Pitt-Bradford for the final nonconference doubleheader of the season on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
