SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Wrapping up the United East regular season on Saturday night, Penn College tennis teams split against Lancaster Bible College, with the men winning 6-1 and the women losing 6-0. Despite the mixed results, both teams qualified for the postseason that begins Tuesday for the women and Saturday for the men.
How it happened men: The Wildcats won five of six singles matches and two of three doubles matches to improve to 3-3 in the UE and 4-8 overall, while LBC dropped to 2-5 UE and 4-12 overall.
Inside the box men: Singles winners for Penn College were Kyle Shuler at No. 1, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4; Alex Norris at No. 2, 6-2, 6-1; Logan Ogden at No. 4, 7-5, 6-3; Seth Priestman at No. 5, 5-7, 6-4, 10-6; and Matt Williams at No. 6, 7-6 (6-0 tiebreaker), 7-4. Doubles winners were Norris-John Finnegan at No. 1, 7-5, and Will Long-Hunter Knosky at No. 3, 6-4.
How it happened women: Lancaster Bible won five singles and two of three doubles matches as Penn College dropped to 2-6 in the UE and 2-13 overall while LBC improved to 6-2 UE and 9-7 overall.
Inside the box women: Ellen Buckley-Faith Murray teamed for the lone Penn College win at No. 1 doubles, 6-2.
