Game Recap: Baseball |

Wildcats Fall to Giants

LA PLUME, Pa. -- In a battle of two of the top United East baseball teams in the standings, Penn College dropped two games at Keystone on Wednesday afternoon. The Giants, who are receiving votes in both the ABCA and D3baseball.com polls, took game one, 7-3, and game two, 6-3. The Wildcats' conference record dropped to 7-3, 13-12 overall, while the Giants remain at the top of the standings with a 7-1 record, 17-6 overall.

In game one,
Keystone took an early 2-0 lead after the first inning and held a 4-0 advantage through five until the Wildcats scored in the sixth inning. Dallas Griess led off the inning with a single and moved around the bases to score on an Ethan Stahl groundout. The Giants plated two runs in the bottom of the frame to lead 7-1. Nathan Gustkey's RBI double in the eighth scored Griess and Matt Munoz scored Shawn Townsend in the ninth.

Griess and Townsend both had two hits and combined for all three runs scored.

In game two,
The Wildcats faced a 6-0 deficit until Townsend's sac fly scored Jaiden Augustine in the eighth. Logan Hinnershitz and Augustine tried to spark a ninth-inning rally with an RBI single and an RBI double, respectively before the Giants stalled the rally.

McQwire Heverly struckout a season-high eight batters in 4.2 innings of action on the mound.
