ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Penn College women's volleyball suffered a pair of 3-0 defeats to SUNY Geneseo and SUNY Oneonta on the first day of the Red Dragon Invitational on Friday evening. The Wildcats' 2025 season began at 0-2 while the Geneseo Knights and Red Dragons both started 2-0.
Against Geneseo, Penn College fell by scores of 25-14, 25-17, 25-7.
Haylie Thomsen led the Wildcats with five kills and two aces.
Ellen Banfill dished out a team-best seven assists and
Nashalie Vializ posted nine digs. The Knights hit .258 with 22 kills and 15 aces as a team.
Against Oneonta, Penn College dropped scores of 25-13, 25-11, 25-8. Vializ scored three aces and added six digs on defense.
Mya Gilliam and
Lilly Stockum both finished with two kills. The Red Dragons hit .348 with 29 kills and 15 aces.
Up next: The Wildcats square off against Utica (10 a.m.) and Baruch (12 p.m.) on Saturday to wrap up action at the Red Dragon Invitational.
