WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Penn College defeated Cheyney, 3-0 in the first match of a nonconference volleyball tri-match on Saturday. In the second match of the afternoon, the Wildcats fell, 3-0 to SUNY Morrisville. The Wildcats improved to 2-12, Cheyney fell to 1-3 and Morrisville moved to 8-4.
Against Cheyney, Penn College started the day with set victories 25-18, 25-15, 26-24 to snap an eight-game slide.
Haylie Thomsen notched a double-double with 11 kills and a team-best 14 digs.
Lilly Stockum hit .226 and led all players with 12 kills.
Nashalie Vializ and
Caitlynn Archie both scored five service aces. in the victory.
Against Morrisville, The Wildcats dropped a competitive 3-0 result by set scores of 25-22, 25-17, 25-20. Stockum scored her fifth-straight double-digit kills total with 10 against the Mustangs. She also posted 10 digs, three assists and two blocks. PCT held the Mustangs to a negative hitting percentage, but a 13-3 service ace advantage held by the Mustangs was the difference.
