ALFRED, N.Y. -- Penn College closed out its nonconference men's soccer schedule with a 1-0 victory at Alfred State on Tuesday evening. The Wildcats head into United East action on Saturday with a 5-3-0 record while the Pioneers fell to 3-2-3.
How it happened: After a scoreless first half that saw just four Penn College shots, the Wildcats kept up the pressure in the second half. With momentum building,
Mason Kostick sent a long pass up the right side to
Silas Miller who played the perfect cross for
AJ Sedor to fire the ball past the Alfred State keeper in the 69th minute.
Justin Crismale fought off eight Pioneer shots and recorded two second-half saves to preserve the Wildcats lead and earn the clean sheet victory.
Inside the box: Sedor scored his first career goal while
Silas Miller earned his first career assist in the game's only score. Crismale recorded his fourth clean sheet victory while the defensive line of
Zach Foskey,
Elliott Rattiram and
Will Watson limited the ASC offense to just eight shot (2 on-goal).
Up next: Penn College begins United East competition with a trip to Cairn on Saturday at 1 p.m., in a rematch of last season's United East Quarterfinal match.
