ALFRED, N.Y. — Penn College's wrestling team posted a 2-1 record at the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Duals on Saturday, besting Pitt-Bradford 37-13 and Alfred State 32-18, and losing to Penn State Behrend 24-20. The Wildcats are now 5-5 overall and end 3-1 in the conference, having beaten Penn State Altoona earlier in the season.

On the mats: Three Penn College wrestlers, Blake Dergham at 133 pounds, Chase Shaner at 141 and Carter Davis at 165, finished the day with 3-0 records. Shaner decked his Pitt-Bradford opponent in 18 seconds. Also, Harris Keares at 125, David M'Balla at 157, and Nic Brotzman at 285 all ended 2-1, with Brotzman recording two falls.

Against Pitt-Bradford, Keares started the match with a tech fall at 125 pounds, Dergham topped his opponent, 7-0 and Shaner picked up an 18-second fall to give the Wildcats 14-0 lead. After a Panthers decision at 149, M'Balla earned a pin in 3:29 at 157 pounds and Davis posted a tech fall in 4:25 at 165. Cole Shupp (184) and Tyler Prince (197) both collected forfeits.

Against Penn State Behrend, the Lions and Wildcats traded decisions at 125 and 133 pounds before Shaner posted a 17-5 major decision over Cole Neil, ranked fifth in NWCA Region 2. M'Balla earned a 16-6 major decision and Davis grinded out a 7-4 victory over Steffan Lynch for a 14-9 lead but the Lions rattled off two falls and an overtime win at 184 to seal the victory despite a Brotzman pin at 285.

Against Alfred State, the Wildcats rebounded for a team win with Keares and Dergham earning falls and Shaner earned another major decision to give the Wildcats an early 16-0 lead. Davis and Petroski put the match in hand with a major decision and pin, respectively and Brotzman put on the finishing touches with a first period fall.

Up next: Penn College competes at the Elizabethtown D. Kenneth Ober Memorial Invitational at 9 a.m. on Jan. 24.
