WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College fell to Cairn, 89-80, in a United East men's basketball game Saturday. The Wildcats dropped to 3-8 UE, 4-18 overall, while the Highlanders improved to 10-2, 18-6.
How it happened: After Cairn took a 15-6 lead midway through the first half, Penn College used an 11-2 spurt to tie game at 17 on
Peyton Murphy's traditional three-point play with 6:17 left in the opener. The Highlander closed out the half with 19-7 run to lead 36-24 at halftime.
Cairn held a double-digit lead for the majority of the second half. PCT got as close seven in the final seconds, while the Highlanders led by as many as 19 in the final stanza.
Inside the box: Murphy finished with a game-high 20 points for the Wildcats, grabbed six rebounds, and dished out five assists.
Jay Henry added 19 points, while
Octavio Alexander added 17 points and handed out a team-best six assists.
