Wildcats Fall to Pioneers in Double OT

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Penn College fell, 14-13, in double overtime to Transylvania in nonconference lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon. The Wildcats dropped just their second game of the season and sit 6-2 while the Pioneers improved to 4-2 overall.

How it happened: The game featured 10 lead changes and nine ties before the Pioneers scored the game-winner with just 1:26 on the clock in the double overtime period.  Will Ehret forced the extra play by scoring his third goal with just 15 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 13-13. 

PCT led Transylvania by one goal after the horn in the first (4-3), second (7-6) and third quarters (10-9) before the Pioneers netted four goals in the fourth to take a 13-12 lead with 1:38 left.

In the first overtime, Ryan Twist fended off five-straight Pioneer shots to give the Wildcats a chance. Aidan McFalls and Jake Small ripped shots early in the sixth period but McFalls was blocked and Small's attempt was saved by the Pioneer keeper.

Inside the box: Elliot Dotson scored five goals and Ehret finished with three while McFalls and Braden Holland scored twice in the first quarter. Antonio Santora won 16-of-24 faceoffs and Twist came away with 20 saves in net.

Up next: Penn College returns to UPMC Field to take on SUNY Morrisville on Saturday at 1 p.m.
