WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College dealt Montclair State its first loss of season with a 16-12 win over the Red Hawks in a nonconference men's lacrosse game Saturday. The Wildcats improved to 9-2, while Montclair dropped to 8-1.
How it happened: After the Red Hawks scored the first goal of the game, Penn College answered with nine-straight scores, led by four goals from
Owen Kupsey, to lead 9-1 with 10:05 left in the second. After MSU scored back-to-back goals,
Aidan McFalls notched his 100
th career goal to give PCT a 10-3 lead before the Hawks answered to make it 10-4 at halftime.
Montclair cut into the Wildcats' lead with four-straight to open the third before Kupsey stopped the onslaught with back-to-back goals to give PCT a 12-7 lead with 6:09 left in the third. The Hawks got as close as three, 12-9, with 20 seconds left in the third but
John Dolezal found
Jesse Weick with two seconds left to put the Wildcats ahead 13-9 at the end of the third. PCT outscored MSU, 3-2, in the fourth.
Inside the box: Kupsey finished with six goals for Penn College, while McFalls added four, including his 150
th career point, and
Tyler Diffenderfer netted a pair. A.J. and
Elliot Dotson both dished out a team-best three assists.
Antonio Santora went 22 of 31 on faceoffs and
Ryan Twist turned away 13 shots in goal.
