SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Penn College tennis teams dropped their United East Conference matches on Saturday against St. Mary's (Md.) College, the men by a 7-0 score and the women 6-1. The Penn College men are now 0-2 in the UE and 1-5 overall and its women are 1-2 in the UE and 2-8 overall. The St. Mary's men are 1-0 UE, 4-5 overall and its women are 3-0 UE and 6-4 overall.
How it happened men: St. Mary's won all six singles and three doubles matches.
On the court men: The most competitive singles matches for Penn College saw Kyle Shuler fall at No. 1, 6-4, 6-6 (8-6 tiebreaker) and Matt Williams fall at No. 4, 3-6, 7-5, 6-6 (10-5 tiebreaker).
How it happened women: St. Mary's won five of six singles and all three doubles matches.
On the court women: Faith Murray, at No. 2 singles, posted the lone Penn College win, 6-2, 6-1. In another competitive match, Kiera Wene lost at No. 3 singles, 6-6 (4-7 tiebreaker), 3-6.
