LEXINGTON, KY. – Penn College held off a late Cardinal rally to knock off North Central (lll.), 11-10, in a nonconference men's lacrosse game Monday. The Wildcats improved to 6-1, while the Cardinals fell to 1-5.
How it happened: Trailing 7-6, with 11:15 left in the third, Penn College netted four-straight goals – from
Will Ehret,
Charlie Monsell,
Tyler Diffenderfer, and Gain Selchert – to take a 10-7 lead early in the fourth quarter. After NC scored back-to-back goals to get within one, 10-9, Aidan McFall netted the eventual game-winner with 2:51 before the Cardinals got back with one with a goal at 2:07.
After a 2-2 first quarter,
Owen Kupsey scored a pair in the second, while McFall scored once, and
Elliot Dotson added another to give the Wildcats a 6-5 lead at halftime.
Inside the box: Ehret (3), Kupsey (2), and Dotson (2) scored multiple goals for PCT, while McFalls dished out a team-best two helpers.
Ryan Twist turned away 11 shots in goal for the Wildcats.
