WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College dropped a pair of United East softball games against Penn State Brandywine Sunday. The Wildcats fell to 6-2 UE, 21-5 overall after losing game one, 5-4, and the nightcap, 21-8.
In game one,
The Lions took an early 2-0 lead with a pair of unearned runs in the first inning.
Alivia Bizzarri's sacrifice to right in the second pulled PCT within one, 2-1.
Sofia Mileto made it 3-2 with a double to left in the fifth before
Astyn Calaman's single to left gave the Wildcats a 4-2 lead. The Lions pulled within one, 4-3, in the sixth and added two in the seventh.
Carissa Lusk led the offense with two hits, while
Mackenzi Tice dropped 13-2 after seven innings in the circle. She surrendered three earned, on nine hits, with five strikeouts and two walks.
In game two,
The Lions took another early lead with a pair of runs in the first and smacked two grand slams in the second to take a 10-0 lead. Brandywine made it 20-0, with 10 in the third before
Payton Crawford put PCT on the board with a double to right in the bottom of the frame. Crawford later scored on
Taylor Brown's double to right to make it 20-2.
After Brandywine added one in the fourth, the Wildcats tacked on six in the fifth, with RBIs from
Arista Fine, Lusk, Mileto, Crawford, and
Astyn Calaman.
Mileto paced the offense with four hits, while Crawford and Brown finished with a pair.
Alivia Bizzarri took the loss in the circle and fell to 4-1 this season.
