Kunes, Tice Power Wildcats in Sweep of Penn State Harrisburg

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. -- Penn College stretched its win streak to six with a United East Conference softball sweep at Penn State Harrisburg Thursday evening. The Wildcats took game one, 2-1, and earned a 7-5 victory in the nightcap. PCT improved to 12-2 in conference games, 27-5 overall. The Lions dropped to 10-6 UEC, 20-10.

In game one, 
Harley Kunes accounted for both runs in game one with an RBI-triple to score Ryleigh Rinker in the second and tie the game at 1-1. In the seventh, Kunes scored the game-winner on a Harrisburg error. 

Tice surrendered just one hit and struck out seven in a seven-inning complete game to match the program single-season wins record at 17.

In game two,
Kunes continued to swing the hot bat with a three-run triple in the first inning and scored on an Astyn Calaman single to give the Wildcats an early 4-0. Harrisburg battled back with three runs in the bottom of the frame and two in the second to take a 5-4 lead. 

Eliza Sullivan and Kunes scored in the fifth to regain the lead. Another Kunes RBI in the sixth plated Payton Crawford to for the 7-5 final.

Kunes finished with five RBIs and two runs scored. Laney Wilson and Carissa Lusk both appeared in two innings of work while Tice reset the single-season wins record at 18 after three innings of one-hit action and striking out seven.

Up next: Penn College completes its regular-season on Friday afternoon at Gallaudet, game time set for 2 and 4 p.m.
