WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Penn College suffered a heart-breaking, 16-15 overtime loss to Kean College in a nonconference men's lacrosse game Wednesday evening at UPMC Field. The Wildcats dropped to 10-4 while the Cougars improved to 7-7.
How it happened: Kean scored the final three unanswered goals and clinched the victory with 1:52 remaining in the overtime period. The Cougars came back from a 15-13 deficit with 47 seconds remaining in regulation, scoring twice on a FOGO goal with 44 seconds left and scored the game-tying goal with four seconds remaining in regulation to force extra time.
Kean started with a four-goal lead to start the night before
Elliot Dotson found his older brother, AJ, to connect for the Wildcats' first goal at 10:41 in the first. AJ fed
Owen Kupsey for the second goal with 5:35 to go in the opening frame.
Aidan McFalls, Eliott Dotson and Kupsey scored again to cut the Cougars lead to 6-5 after the first quarter.
McFalls scored three goals in the second quarter while Kupsey and
Tate Renaud also scored to give the Wildcats a 10-8 lead at the half.Â
Inside the box: Elliot Dotson finished with a team-high seven poitns on three goals and four assists. AJ DOtson posted a goal and four assists. Kupsey and McFalls each finished with a team-best five goals.
Antonio Santora won 21-of-32 faceoff attempts and
Ryan Twist posted 10 saves.Â
Penn College fired off 65 shots, compared to Kean's 37 and forced 23 saves.
