LATHAM, N.Y. -- Penn College's
Faith Murray (Dillsburg, Pa.), and
Kiera Wene (Ephrata, Pa.) were named to the United East All-Conference Teams, announced by the league office on Wednesday. Murray earned her selection to the second team while Wene was a third team selection.
Murray was the leading Wildcat this season as she posted a 14-4 record and an undefeated 8-0 mark in conference singles matches this season. The Wildcat junior had a 5-0 mark in the No. 2 position, went 4-0 at No. 3 and 1-0 at No. 4 against conference opponents while she had a 5-0 mark at No. 2 and a season-high eight solo victories at No. 3. Murray aldo recorded a 13-4 record in doubles with a 10-3 mark in the No. 2 slot
Wene was right behind Murray with 13 wins with at least four wins in each of the No. 3-5 positions, while also scoring an 8-1 conference record. The freshman Wildcat scored a season-high four conference victories at the No. 3 position and an undefeated 3-0 at No. 5. Wene also recorded a team-high six doubles victories with all of them coming at the No. 2 position.
Murray and Wene helped Penn College have a record year with a 9-11 season and six conference victories to earn the No. 3 seed in the United Est Playoff and make the first-ever trip to the United East Championship match after upsetting defending champion Penn State Harrisburg in the semifinal match.
