Wildcats fall to Bearcats in Nonconference Women's Soccer

LATROBE, Pa. — Penn College dropped a nonconference women's soccer game to Saint Vincent, 3-1, on Sunday. The Wildcats faced a 19-7 shot margin and made nine saves, including eight after halftime. The Wildcats sit 3-1-0 overall. The Bearcats moved to 3-1-0 overall.

How it happened: After Saint Vincent scored the opening goal in the 16th minute, PCT responded late in the first half when Holly Herbert scored off Avery Puderbach's assist at 43:02 to make it 1-1.

Saint Vincent broke the 1-1 tie at 60:38, when Addie Fisher scored from Cori Bieber's assist, and PCT spent most of the second half chasing a one-goal deficit. Garman put the Wildcats' lone shot on goal of the half on frame at 63:02, while Harley Oliphant made eight saves in the half. Saint Vincent added an insurance goal in the 86th minute and held on for the 3-1 win.

Inside the box: Herbert scored her first goal of the season, converting her lone shot on goal and finishing with two points. Puderbach recorded the assist for her point. Garman led PCT with five shots and put three on goal while Oliphant scooped a season-high nine saves in net.

Emma Koller scored twice on three shots, putting all three attempts on goal and converting her only penalty-kick attempt. Addie Fisher tallied the game-winning goal and put all three of her shots on goal. Riley Kerr recorded an assist and added two shots, including one on goal. Rilyn Warner played all 90 minutes in goal and finished with three saves while allowing one goal.

Up next: The Wildcats visit Penn State Altoona on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m.
