WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Penn College defeated Penn St. Brandywine 6-0 on Saturday. The Wildcats finished with a 32-1 shot advantage, putting 21 shots on goal while holding the Nittany Lions without a shot on goal. The Wildcats are 5-2-1 overall and 1-0-0 UEC. The Lions dropped to 3-5-0 overall and 0-1-0 UEC.
How it happened: The Wildcats built a 4-0 halftime lead, starting when
Cadence Holmberg scored her first goal of the season as she cleaned up a rebounding shot from
Megan Kurian at 13:48.
Camryn Lobb added a goal from
Lily Persing at 20:06, Kurian scored at 25:51 and
Rylee Oliphant finished the first-half scoring at 41:32 with her first goal of the season.
Lobb's brace at 57:44 made it 5-0 for the Wildcats, and Persing scored at 72:00 to make it 6-0. PCT generated steady pressure around those goals, taking four shots before Lobb's finish and earning three corner kicks from 59:27 to 67:17. The Lions recorded just one shot after halftime, and the Wildcats closed out the 6-0 win.
Inside the box: Lobb scored twice and finished with six shots, including three on goal. Kurian added a goal and an assist while leading the Wildcats with five shots on goal. Holmberg recorded the game-winning goal and put both of her shots on frame. Persing tallied a goal and an assist on three shots.
Jasmin Alvarez recorded 15 saves while playing all 90 minutes in goal. Addisyn Fluckey attempted Penn St. Brandywine's lone shot.
