Wildcats Begin Season with 5-0 Shutout Over Delaware Valley

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Penn College women's soccer shutout Delaware Valley, 5-0, in their season-opener on Friday at UPMC Field. The Wildcats outshot Delaware Valley 25-3, put 17 shots on goal and did not allow a shot on goal. The Wildcats are 1-0-0 overall. Delaware Valley is 1-1-0 overall.

How it happened: In her first action back from injury, Megan Kurian scored twice in the first half, opening the scoring at 10:56 and adding a second goal off Eva White's assist at 32:44. PCT backed that with steady pressure, including multiple early shots and four corner kicks in a stretch from 15:09 to 19:15. The Wildcats took a 2-0 lead into halftime.

PCT turned early second-half pressure into the next goal, with Kurian scoring from Erin Galanaugh in the 57th minute to make it 3-0. Freshman Camryn Lobb added goals at 65:43 and 69:08, the second assisted by Holly Herbert, as the Wildcats closed out a 5-0 win.

Inside the box: Kurian scored three goals and put five of her team-high seven shots on goal. Lobb added two goals on six shots, placing four attempts on frame. Ella Garman finished with six shots, including four on goal. Harley Oliphant played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded a shutout.

Dekota Barthold recorded eight saves over 45 minutes in goal. Jenelle Frye added four saves in 45 minutes. Jarle Aguilar-Acuna led Delaware Valley with two shots.

Up next: The Wildcats are back in action on Saturday, at 1 p.m., against Elmira College at UPMC Field in Williamsport, Pa.
