Box Score ELMIRA, N.Y. – Facing a tough Elmira College pitching staff, the Pennsylvania College of Technology softball team lost 2-0, 8-0 in a non-conference doubleheader Friday. The Lady Wildcats totaled only three hits and were struck out 19 times between the two games. With the loss, they fall to 5-11 overall.
In the opener, freshman
Arika Stopper (Williamsport) threw six innings allowing five hits and no earned runs as Penn College committed two errors in the game. She struck out three in the outing. Sophomore
Rachael Shaeffer (Hampstead, Md.) recorded the only hit for the team. Elmira scored its runs in the third and sixth.
In game two, sophomore
Kimberly Walter (Beavertown) pitched the first 2 1/3 innings allowing five earned runs off five hits. Freshman
Brianne Brewer (Jersey Shore) came in to close out the third allowing two more earned runs. Sophomore
Delaney Blubaugh (Waynesboro) pitched the final inning of the game allowing an earned run with a strikeout.
Freshmen
Macie Lucas (Reedsville) and
Jessica Gmerek (Bellefonte) each recorded a hit for the Lady Wildcats.
Penn College gets right back into action traveling to Penn State Greater Allegheny on Saturday, Apr. 19 for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
