Box Score WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball team dropped a doubleheader to conference rival Penn State Greater Allegheny Monday. The Wildcats lost 5-4 in extra innings in game one and were shut out 5-0 in the second. Junior Zachary Weil (Kutztown) led the offense capturing two RBI on the day including a solo home run. With the sweep, the Wildcats fall to 6-6 overall and 0-2 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.

In the opener, Weil put Penn College up with a solo shot in the second. After Greater Allegheny plated three in the bottom of the inning, the Wildcats came back to take the 4-3 edge in the top of the third. Freshman Dylan Scaringi () led off with a triple and junior Zachary Buterbaugh (Conestoga) then doubled for the RBI. Weil and senior Joshua Longsderff (Columbia) each recorded RBI singles in the inning.

Longsderff finished his day 2-3.

The Lions tied it up in the bottom of the fourth and after three more scoreless innings, sent it into extra innings. Junior starter Tyler Cooklin (Rippey, Iowa) ended his day with seven innings of work allowing four earned runs with six hits and three strikeouts.

After a 1-2-3 top of the eighth, Penn College had two outs but the Lions hit one over the fence for the walk off. Buterbaugh recorded the loss coming in relief.

As a team, the Wildcats totaled nine hits with Weil totaling two with two RBI.

In game two, the Penn College offense was stunted totaling only four hits behind freshman starter Nicholas Pupo (Lewistown). Pupo allowed five earned runs over five innings of work while striking out four. Junior John Rodriguez-McKeon (Stroudsburg) pitched a scoreless sixth in relief.

Penn College next hosts Penn State Scranton on Wednesday, Apr. 2 for a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
