Box Score WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball team dropped a marathon game to Marywood University Saturday losing 8-7 in 11 innings. The Wildcats went through seven pitchers in the game with junior Zachary Buterbaugh (Conestoga) recording the loss. Junior Zachary Weil (Kutztown) led the offense going 3-5 with two RBI and a run. The loss now drops Penn College to 10-7 overall.

In the second, the Wildcats recorded three errors to allow Marywood to score three runs. Junior Tyler Cooklin (Rippey, Iowa) came in for relief in the third pitching a 1-2-3 inning. Junior starter Matthew Demilio (Greensburg) ended his day allowing an earned run off of three hits.

In the bottom of the inning with bases loaded, senior Cody Buterbaugh (Conestoga) hit a double into the right center gap to score two. Weil tied it up hitting in junior Zachary Buterbaugh.

Cody Buterbaugh ended the day 2-6 at the plate with two RBI and a run.

The Pacers scored two runs off of freshman Christopher Glunk (Jersey Shore) in the fourth making it a 5-3 game in their favor. They tacked on another in the fifth and threatened to score another but Zachary Buterbaugh made a big play gunning out the runner at home to end the inning.

In the bottom of the inning, after back-to-back RBI hits from Weil and freshman James Brophy (Minersville), senior Josh Longsderff (Columbia) hit a two-RBI, double to left to give the Wildcats the 7-6 edge. All runs were scored with two outs.

Marywood countered in the sixth scoring a run off of junior James Scully (Middletown, Del.) who walked the bases loaded to allow the team to score on a sac fly to right. In the top of the seventh, Penn College helped junior John Rodriguez-McKeon (Stroudsburg) get out of a bases-loaded jam with a double play to keep the game tied.

In extra innings, the Pacers broke the drought in the 11th scoring on a two-out double to make it 8-7. Penn College could not answer in the bottom of the inning giving Marywood the victory.

Both teams recorded 11 hits and left a combined 24 runners on the base paths. Freshman Cole Weachock (Pottsville) also led the offense going 2-4 with a run.

Next up, Penn College hosts Baptist Bible College on Monday, Apr. 7 at 4 p.m for a single game.
