Box Score MONT ALTO, Pa. – Despite winning its quarterfinal game against No. 6 Penn State Beaver 4-0, the No. 3 Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball team could not get past No. 2 Penn State Brandywine falling 4-3 in the semifinals. Junior Tyler Cooklin (Rippey, Iowa) notched the win in the first game with seven strikeouts and a strong defense behind him. The loss ends the season for the Wildcats that finish up 24-11 overall and 16-6 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.

Against Beaver, Cooklin was strong allowing only four hits in seven innings of work. He got some Sports Center worthy defensive plays behind him to help the shutout.

Penn College plated two runs in the first as senior Cody Buterbaugh (Conestoga) hit a fielder's choice for an RBI and freshman Evan Vigna (McAdoo) followed with a sac fly to center.

Vigna ended the game 2 for 2 with two runs.

In the fourth, sophomore Tanner Kiber (Reedsville) singled up the middle to score Vigna making it 3-0. The Wildcats scored their final run in the sixth when freshman Dylan Scaringi (Coatesville) drew the walk with the bases loaded.

As a team, Penn College totaled five hits.

Against Brandywine, senior starter Josh Longsderff (Columbia) breezed through the first inning before allowing Brandywine to score a run in the second. Cody Buterbaugh doubled for an RBI the very next inning to even it up.

Cody Buterbaugh ended the game 3 for 4.

After the Lions scored three more runs in the third and fourth to go up 4-1, junior Zachary Buterbaugh (Conestoga) hit a two-RBI double in the sixth to bring the game to within one. Even with the heart of its order batting in the seventh, Penn College could not get any more runs, ending its season.

Zachary Buterbaugh ended with two hits and a run.

The Wildcats totaled seven hits in the game to Brandywine's five. Longsderff ended the game with three strikeouts and four earned runs.
