Box Score COBLESKILL, N.Y. – Penn College used a strong second half to knock off SUNY-Cobleskill 86-61 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference women's basketball game Saturday. The Wildcats won their third straight game and improved to 7-3 NEAC, 8-6 overall, while the Tigers fell to 1-6, 2-10.
Alicia Ross scored a game-high 24 points for Penn College, her fourth game this season with 20 or more points. Ross also dished out seven assists and picked up six steals.
Charese Bova recorded her 11th double-double this season with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Hannah Schoenly finished with 13 points for Penn College,
Jamie Steer added 10 and
Danielle Mowery scored nine points and had six assists.
Shelby Preston finished with 15 points for Cobleskill.
The game featured nine ties in the opening 12 minutes of the game, the final one with the score deadlocked at 21-21 with 8:24 left in the first half. Penn College used an 8-0 run, with six points by Schoenly and two from
Anna-Marie Raybuck, to take a 29-21 lead with 5:31 before halftime. The Wildcats led 38-35 at the break.
Cobleskill took a 41-38 lead after a Preston jumper early in the second half before an 11-2 scoring run gave Penn College a 49-43 advantage with 15:18 left in the game. Ross scored five in the scoring run for the Wildcats, Bova four and Steer two. Schoenly's three at the midpoint mark of the second half put Penn College ahead 63-48 and the Wildcats never looked back.
Penn College returns to action Sunday, 12 p.m., at SUNYIT.
