Penn College Falls in Season Openers

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Penn College dropped a pair of non-conference baseball games as the Wildcats opened the season in Myrtle Beach Sunday. Penn College lost to Johnson & Wales 3-2 before falling to Albertus Magnus 8-1.

In Game One,

The Wildcats surrendered unearned runs on the fourth and seventh innings and that proved to be the difference in a 3-2 defeat.

Ryan Hostrander tossed three innings with three strikeouts and one earned run. Aaron Palmer worked three innings on the mounts with one unearned run and Nick Perna pitched three innings with one strikeouts and one unearned run.

Following Dylan Scaringi's triple in the third, Zach Weil brought in his teammate with a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 1-1. Tyler Cooklin's pinch hit single with two outs in the ninth was followed by a Darien Ebersole single and a walk to James Simasek to load the bases with Penn College trailing 3-1. Scaringi drew a walk, which brought home Cooklin, before Carlos Rodriguez left the bases loaded with a strikeout to end the game.
