Lions Take a Pair from Penn College

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Penn College dropped a non-conference baseball double-header to Penn State Harrisburg Monday in Myrtle Beach. The Lions took game one 4-0 and won the nightcap 9-6. The Wildcats dropped to 0-4 this season.

In Game One,

Penn State Harrisburg scored two runs each in the first inning and third inning and held Penn College to just two hits. Clay DeNoia pitched three innings, surrendering three hits and four earned runs, while striking out three batters. Matt Demilio fired four innings in relief with three strikeouts and four hits.

In Game Two,

Penn College jumped out to a 1-0 lead after Zach Weil's RBI double in the first inning. Penn State tacked on three runs in the second before the Wildcats matched it with three in the third to lead 4-3. Weil stroked a two-run double and Tyler Cooklin brought Weil home with a double.

Both teams traded runs in the fourth and Penn College tacked on one in the top of fifth before Penn State pumped in five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Weil finished 3 for 4 with four RBI for the Wildcats, Carlos Rodriguez went 2 for 4 and James Simasek was 2 for 3 at the plate.
