WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Wilkes University earned a 9-0 win over Penn College in a non-conference women's tennis match Sunday. The Colonels improved to 2-0, while the Wildcats fell to 0-1.
Wilkes swept the double competition to lead 3-0 and had four shutout win in No. 3 through No. 6 singles.
Melissa Stabley battled back from a 6-0 loss in the first set against Taylor Hoffman in No. 1 singles to force after a 7-6 second set before dropping a 7-4 breaker.
Carolyn Krasley made Madison Salmon work for a win in No. 2 singles before falling 6-3, 6-1.
Penn College returns to action Friday, 4 p.m., at Lebanon Valley.
