Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – Gallaudet used a strong second quarter to propel the Bison to 60-49 win over Penn College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference women's basketball game Saturday. The Bison improved to 4-5 overall, 3-2 NEAC, while the Wildcats fell to 2-5, 2-3.
Jamie Steer paced Penn College with a game-high 16 points. Steer also pulled down 10 rebounds for her second double-double this season, and is just 64 points shy of tying Kierstin Steer as the program's all-time leading scorer.
Danielle Mowery added 15 points for the Wildcats, while
Alicia Ross finished with 11 points and eight assists.
Zamica Gage led GU with 13 points, and Danielle Morris added 10.
Following a high-scoring first quarter, which ended in a 17-17 deadlock, the Bison outscored Penn College 15-5 in the second quarter to lead 32-22 at the break.
Penn College opening the second half with seven-straight points – three from Ross and two each by Steer and Mowery -- to pull within three, 32-29 with 7:34 left in the third. The Bison closed out the quarter on a 13-2 run to lead 55-38. The Wildcats outscored the Bison 18-15 in the final quarter.
