Box Score WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Bryn Athyn edged Penn College 48-42 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference women's basketball game Wednesday. The Lions improved to 12-3 overall, 9-2 NEAC, while the Wildcats fell to 3-13, 3-9.
Alicia Ross scored a team-high 14 points for Penn College and pulled down eight rebounds.
Jane Herman picked up her second career double-double with 13 points and team-high 10 rebounds, while
Gwendolyn Lavelle finished 10.
Ross is 22 points away from tying former teammate
Jamie Steer '16 (1,422) for the program's career scoring mark.
Kristina Clark scored a game-high 15 points and grabbed a game-best 22 rebounds for Bryn Athyn.
After a slow start by both teams in the first quarter, the Wildcats led 5-3 after the opening period.
The opening seven minutes of the second quarter featured six lead changes and three deadlocks before the Lions gain separation with a 5-0 spurt to lead 16-11 with 3:52 left before the break. Penn College pulled within one, 16-15, after a Lavelle basket with 1:33 left before the Lions led 18-15 at halftime.
The Wildcats tied the game for the final time after a
Maddie Wenk long ball with 8:04 left in the third. The Lions led by as many as six in the third quarter and by as many as 11 in the final quarter.
The Wildcats return to action Saturday, 1 p.m., at SUNY Poly.
