Penn College Clinches Playoff Spot with Win Over SUNY Poly

Box Score Clinton, NY - Penn College returned to play Saturday for a pair of North East Athletic Conference games against SUNY Poly.  The games were played at Hamilton College.  The Wildcats won the first game 8-3 and the second game was called in the third inning with Penn College leading 2-0 and the game will not be made up.  The win improved the Wildcats record to 10-3 in conference and 22-10 overall.  With the win Penn College clinched a spot in the NEAC playoffs next weekend.  

In Game One - 

Penn College earned a 8-3 victory over SUNY Poly.  Max Bair picked up the victory for the Wildcats to increase his record on the year to 5-1. Devin Sanders finished the game off for Penn College pitching two innings of one hit ball.  

Penn College opened the scoring in the first inning when Cody Cline scored an unearned run on an error by the SUNY Poly pitcher.  

SUNY Poly would tie the game up with a run of their own in the bottom of the first inning.  SUNY Poly would tack on single runs in both the third and fourth innings to take a 3-1 lead. 

Penn College used six hits to score seven runs in the fifth to break the game wide open.  Nathaniel Lowe started the scoring the Wildcats in the fifth with a RBI single through the left side.  Cline followed up Lowe's single with a two RBI double scoring Dylan Scaringi and Noah Esposito.  Lowe would end up scoring on a Ben Flicker RBI single to right field.  The hits kept coming for Penn College when Brittan Kittle tripled to left center to drive in two runs.  The final Wildcat run of inning was drove in by Cole Hofmann on a single through the left side. 

Brittan Kittle and Cody Cline paced Penn College offensively with two hits and two RBIs each.  Cole Hofmann, Nathaniel Lowe and Ben Flicker each had well rounded day with one run, one hit and one RBI each.

Penn College returns to action tomorrow at home vs Keuka.
