WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Morrisville used a hot first half to knock off Penn College 71-63 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference women's basketball game Sunday. The Wildcats fell to 3-7 overall, 1-2 NEAC, while the Mustangs improved to 7-5, 3-0.
How it Happened: Morrisville stormed out to 19-3 lead in the opening six minutes and took a 42-26 lead into halftime.
Penn College pulled within nine, 50-41, on a
Ja'Quela Dyer jumper with 2:46 left in the third, while the Mustangs led 55-41 at the end of the period. The Wildcats erased a 23-point deficit in the fourth quarter with a 16-1 run to finish off the game.
Inside the Box:
Cassi Kuhns picked up her third double-double this season with a game-high 21 points and a game-best 13 rebounds.
Keyona Shoff earned her first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for Penn College.
Tori Rockefeller scored a team-high 19 points for Mustangs.
Morrisville turned 36 Penn College turnovers into 31 points and connected on 14 threes.
Outside the Box: "Turnovers was the ball game. We shot 50% from the floor but we could not capitalize on our offensive end when we needed too," Penn College coach
Britni Mohney said. "We showed heart as we battled back from 22-point deficit but we could not stop the momentum they had with their long-range shots.
