Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Wildcats Win Second Straight

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College handled Penn State Berks, 90-70, in North Eastern Athletic Conference men's basketball game Tuesday. The Wildcats won their second consecutive contest and improved to 4-11 overall, 2-4 NEAC, while the Nittany Lions fell to 1-13, 1-15.

How it Happened: Penn College jumped out to a 26-6 lead en route to a 48-22 halftime lead. The Wildcats led by at least 20 points the entire second half, taking it largest lead, 66-30, with 13:28 left in the game.

Inside the BoxBen Sosa scored a game-high 21 points for Penn College and grabbed eight rebounds. Elijah Vazquez added 18 points, Carson Garvis finished with 16, and Damon Kreider contributed with 10 points. Jesse White grabbed a team-best 10 rebounds.

Xavian Rodriguez led Berks with 21 points.

Outside the Box: "Our defensive focus from the start set the tone for the game.  I thought our effort and intensity was outstanding on the defensive end.  We had great closeouts on their shooters and finished every possession with a big rebound to limit them to a one shot and done," Penn College coach Geoff Hensley said. "Penn State Berks is a dangerous team with how well they can shoot the 3-point shot and I think our players did a great job guarding that.

"Our offense went inside-out today, with Ben and Carson leading the way inside.  Their inside presence opened up the perimeter for Elijah, Damon and Ryan (Lockman) to get going.  Once we started having a good balance of scoring inside and outside, we were a multi-level scoring team, which is challenging to stop.  We haven't reached out peak yet which makes me excited to get back in the gym with the guys and keep working to get better.  Our players work ethic and team chemistry is very good which will help us keep moving in the right direction.

"I also want to thank all our Faculty and Staff in attendance for today's game.  Our game was in support of our Faculty Appreciation night for all the wonderful things they do for our student-athletes on a daily basis.  We appreciate their efforts in the classroom and providing our student-athletes with a first-class college education."

Up Next: Penn College returns to action Saturday, 2 p.m., hosting Gallaudet.
