WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College fell, 57-37, to Penn State Berks in a North Eastern Athletic Conference women's basketball game Tuesday. The Wildcats dropped to 3-10 overall, 1-5 NEAC, while the Nittany Lions improved to 8-6, 4-2.
How it Happened: Berks used a 16-8 first quarter lead to propel itself to a 33-15 halftime advantage. Penn College played stronger in the second half, with a 13-13 third quarter, and just a two-point disadvantage, 11-9, in the fourth.
Inside the Box:
Cassi Kuhns scored a team-high 13 points for Penn College, and
Tori Wolfe finished with a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Ja'Quela Dyer also grabbed 15 boards for the Wildcats.
Kylie Herman led all scorers with 18 points for the Lions.
Outside the Box: "For the past couple of games, we've found a rut of getting the ball in the hoop. Dropping from 40% from the field to 29% can affect the flow of an offense drastically," Penn College
Britni Mohney said. "Even if your defense is doing it's part and holding teams to under their average, our offense needs to follow.
"Tori stepped up tonight, and had one impressive stat line. Cassi came off the bench from foul trouble and was our leading scorer. So the heart and hustle is there. If we can get our confidence back up in our shot selection, our offense will start making its way back up to where we have been prior."
Up Next: Penn College returns to action Saturday, 4 p.m., hosting Gallaudet.
